A missing 56-year-old Searcy man has been found "safe and healthy" after spending two nights in his vehicle, the Searcy Police Department said Friday.

Carl Cobb was traveling to visit a family member Wednesday at Unity Health Medical Center when his vehicle got stuck in a field on Jackson County Road 182, according to police.

The battery for Cobb's vehicle died, and he turned off his cellphone, which had a low battery, until he could get service to make a call, authorities said.

Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Hernandez said Cobb stayed overnight Wednesday and Thursday in his vehicle until he was able to make contact with his sister about 8 a.m. Friday.

Searcy police and the Jackson County sheriff's office located Cobb after his sister gave his approximate location to authorities.
