Autumn weather will finally settle into Arkansas this week, with temperatures dropping after the unseasonably warm air that has blanketed the state since the official beginning of fall last Wednesday.

Temperatures in the last couple weeks during the transition between summer and fall have been “above normal” and dry, said Jeff Hood, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in North Little Rock.

Some showers are expected Monday and Tuesday in southern and eastern parts of the state, Hood said, though he cautioned it would not be a "heavy rain” event.

Temperatures will hover in the 80s Monday and Tuesday before dropping later in the week.

Beginning Wednesday, temperatures will fall to the lower 70s, Hood said, and then “we’ll be dealing with more seasonal, average, not cold or below normal temperatures.”

In Little Rock, highs in the upper 70s are expected Friday and Saturday with lows in the upper 50s.
