Arkansas coach Bret Bielema was pleased with the late addition to the 2016 class when junior college cornerback Britto Tutt signed a national letter of intent on Wednesday.

“We are very excited to add Britto to our 2016 class,” said Bielema. “He’ll have an immediate impact for us starting in the summer and has three years of eligibility. He has a lot of experience as an offensive and defensive player, but we’ll sign him as a corner. He also has the ability to be a punt returner and kick returner.”

Tutt, 6-2, 185 pounds, 4.40 in the 40-yard dash, of Ventura College in California, arrived in Fayetteville on Monday for an official visit and left Wednesday. He picked the Hogs over scholarship offers from Oregon State and Hawaii while drawing interest from Louisiana Tech.

He was a late qualifier out of Academy of Richmond County in Augusta, Ga., in 2015. He played receiver in high school and recorded 40 receptions for 697 yards and 7 touchdowns as a senior.

Tutt had walk-on invites from Tennessee, Georgia Tech and others, but opted for junior college to improve his stock.

The chance to play in the SEC and being closer to home made the Hogs the logical choice.

"That’s one of the biggest reasons,” Tutt said. “My grandmother and all really can’t make the long flight (to California). I can be closer to them too.”

He had 40 tackles, 4 interceptions, 6 pass break ups, 2 tackles for loss and a recovered fumble this past season. Tutt, who will have four years to play three, is expected to report to Fayetteville in late May.
