A Garland County man is accused of raping a 7-year-old girl.
Ervin Dwain Mason III, 34, was charged Wednesday with rape, a class Y felony.
Mason, who has been incarcerated in the Garland County jail since April 7 on an unrelated charge, remained jailed Wednesday afternoon with no bail set.
The Garland County sheriff's office said the victim was interviewed Monday and told investigators "that she and the offender had sexual contact."
Police said they began investigating after receiving a report from the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline on Sunday.
A May 31 court date is scheduled. An online jail roster did not indicate if Mason had an attorney.
