76-year-old Little Rock man identified as pilot who died in gyrocopter crash

A pilot who was killed when his gyrocopter crashed Saturday near the Saline County Regional Airport has been identified as a 76-year-old Little Rock man.

The Bryant Police Department on Tuesday identified the pilot who died as Jack Payne Sr.

The cause of the crash, which happened shortly after 4:30 p.m., has not yet been determined. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.

A gyrocopter is a rotary-wing aircraft that is often single-seated.
