Two people robbed at gunpoint leaving Fayetteville restaurant, police say

FAYETTEVILLE -- Two people were robbed at gunpoint Sunday while leaving a restaurant, according to police.

The victims were leaving Formosa Chinese Restaurant, 1998 N. College Ave., at 9:57 p.m. when two subjects dressed in all black assaulted them, according to a news release.

One of the victims resisted the robbery and was struck in the face with a handgun, the release said. The gun discharged, but the victim wasn't injured.

The robbers fled into a wooded area east of the restaurant with a bag belonging to one of the victims, but police were unable to find them, the release said. It's unclear what was stolen.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call the department at 479-587-3555.
