Marty Stuart plays Ozark center; Zander Schloss at White Water

Country and bluegrass musician Marty Stuart will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View. Tickets are $35 for reserved seating and $25 for general admission.

Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives, his backing band, are touring in support of their new album, Way Out West, a tribute to the music of California. The 58-year-old, who got his start at age 12 playing with Arkansas legend Johnny Cash, also worked with Lester Flatt, Vassar Clements and Doc Watson, and has collaborated on scores for Arkansas filmmaker Billy Bob Thornton on All the Pretty Horses and Daddy and Them.

Schloss has collaborated with The Weirdos, Joe Strummer, Mike Watt, Stan Ridgeway and Thelonious Monster. He also has worked as a movie actor with roles as Kevin the Nerd in Repo Man, plus roles in 13 other films. His soundtrack work includes the movie Sid & Nancy.

Blues and jazz fans will mix and mingle with separate festivals in Hot Springs this weekend.

The 21st annual Hot Springs Blues Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday in Hill Wheatley Plaza downtown. Admission is $20 per day.

Performing on Saturday will be The Stella Vees, The Akeem Kemp Band, Leo "Bud" Welch and John Nemeth & The Blues Dreamers. Performers Sunday include Jelly Brown & Kathy Kidd, Spa City Youngbloods, Hoodoo Blues Revue, John Calvin Brewer Band, Nandha Blues, Nikki Hill and Anthony Gomes.

The 26th annual Hot Springs JazzFest begins today and continues through Monday at several venues. Some events are free; for others, ticket prices range up to $50.

Jazz Night at the Ohio Club, 336 Central Ave., at 7 p.m. today will offer free admission.

Classical & Jazz Blow Out at the Five Star Theatre, 701 Central Ave., will feature dinner at 6 p.m. and a show at 7. Tickets are $30 for show only for Jazz Society members; $45 for dinner and show. For nonmembers, show only is $35; dinner and show is $50.

Jazz in the Streets, the festival's traditional free event, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday under the sky bridge at Broadway and Market streets and will feature the 106th Army Band, the Southern Arkansas University Jazz Ensemble, the University of Arkansas at Monticello Jazz Band, ATM (Anything That Moves) jazz combo, Latin jazz band Calle Soul and the New Breed Brass Band of New Orleans.

Los Traileros del Norte, formed in Monterrey in the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico, is one of the foremost exponents of "norteno" music. The group has released more than 15 albums since the 1970s.
