LR man arrested in child-sex sting

A Little Rock man found with two boxes of condoms in his pocket believed he was meeting a 15-year-old girl for sex Friday, according to a news release from the Pulaski County sheriff's office. Instead he was arrested, authorities said.

Dallas County deputies contacted Pulaski County officers after determining last week that Milton Jefferson, 51, had agreed to meet an "underage female" at the Park Plaza mall in Little Rock, the release said.

Pulaski County investigators charged Jefferson with Internet stalking of a child, criminal attempt to commit sexual indecency with a minor and sexual solicitation/indecency with a child. He was taken to the Pulaski County jail, where he remained in lieu of a $100,000 bond as of Saturday afternoon.

Officers say Texan threatened assault

In the minutes before he was shot with a stun gun Saturday, a Texas man threatened to "beat" and kill a security officer on the campus of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences if the officer shocked him, according to an arrest report.

A security officer asked for police assistance in dealing with John Kohlman, 36, of Houston, who was shouting, cursing and threatening officers, the report said.

When UAMS police officers arrived, Kohlman said he would go get a gun and shoot them and he threatened to assault anyone who fired a stun gun at him, the report said. When Kohlman refused to cooperate and continued to threaten people around him, an officer shocked him, the report said.

Kohlman was being held without bail Saturday evening in the Pulaski County jail. He faces charges of committing a terroristic act, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and first-degree criminal mischief, according to the jail's roster.
