NORTH LITTLE ROCK 76, FLORENCE (Miss.) 60

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Senior Shawn Fudge led a balanced scoring attack with 19 points as the Charging Wildcats rolled to a 76-60 victory over Florence, Miss., in the opening round of the 38th Annual Beach Ball Classic at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

Five Wildcats scored 10 or more points, including a 13-point, 12-rebound effort from senior Collin Moore. North Little Rock (11-1) hit 28 of 56 shots from the floor and outscored Florence 48-20 inside the paint.

Florence (8-2) picked up a game-high 27 points from Alabama signee Jaylen Forbes -- a 6-5 guard -- but the Eagles were limited to 21-of-64 shooting (32.8 percent) from the floor. North Little Rock led 36-24 at the half and by as many as 21 points in the second half.

Fudge was 7-of-11 shooting and finished with six rebounds. Sophomore D.J. Smith added 12 points, handed out 6 assists and made 4 steals. Junior Spencer Simes scored 12 points, made 5 assists and blocked 4 shots. Sophomore Tracy Steele came off the bench to score 10 points.

North Little Rock will play its second-round game at 3:30 p.m. Friday against Archbishop Stepinac of White Plains, N.Y.

IZARD COUNTY 84, SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 54

HARDY -- Justus Cooper scored 31 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as the Cougars (19-2) pulled away from the Wildcats in the Bad Boys Mowers Ronnie Brogdon Classic at Highland High School's A.L. Hutson Memorial Center.

Coby Everett added 23 points and 4 steals, and Caleb Faulkner tossed in 17 points and handed out 10 assists.

Lawson Jenkins led Har-Ber (2-6) with 16 points while Nick Buchanan put in 13.

HIGHLAND 55, STRONG 25

HARDY -- The Rebels (6-6) scored the game's first 12 points as the host team knocked off the Bulldogs (3-7) in the Ronnie Brogdon Classic.

Cole Wallis led Highland with 18 points, 12 of which came in the third quarter. Camden Rhodes added 15. Derrion Davis led Strong with eight points.

NASHVILLE ENSWORTH 81, MELBOURNE 44

HARDY -- Keshawn Lawrence and Chaz Lanier each scored 15 points for the Tigers (6-6) in a rout of the Bearkatz (2-10) in the Ronnie Brogdon Classic.

Alex Brady led Melbourne with 13 points.

GIRLS

FORT SMITH NORTHSIDE 68, SPRINGFIELD CATHOLIC (Mo.), 35

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Sophomore guard Jersey Wolfenbarger led the Lady Bears with 12 points in a victory over the Fighting Irish in the opening round of the Pink & White Lady Classic at Drury University.

Playing in the White Division, Northside (9-0) led 22-7 after one quarter and 42-10 at the half.

Senior Tiya Douglas and sophomore Tracey Bershers each tossed in eight points, while senior Sara Bershers was good for seven.

The Lady Bears, who are ranked No. 13 nationally by MaxPreps.com, will play Skyline (Mo.) in today's 7:30 p.m. quarterfinals. Springfield Catholic fell to 1-4.
