Arkansas teen found in Washington state days after being reported missing; 2 in custody

Two people are in custody after a missing Arkansas teen was found in a cabin in Washington state on Thursday, authorities said.

The 18-year-old high school senior with autism was reported missing from her home south of Blytheville on Feb. 17, according to the Mississippi County sheriff's office.

Investigators reportedly discovered that the teen had received a text from a Washington state phone number early that morning, so the sheriff's office requested assistance from law enforcement there.

Authorities found that the teen had been contacted online by a 50-year-old man who has tried to befriend more than 8,000 minors via social media, according to a Facebook post from the Pierce County sheriff's office in Washington.

In the days before she disappeared, detectives reportedly determined that the 50-year-old and a 28-year-old woman flew from Washington to Tennessee and used fake IDs to rent a vehicle.

Then they drove to the 18-year-old's home and "lured or abducted the victim with a possible sexual motivation," driving her to Washington with them, the department said.

Authorities obtained arrest warrants for the two suspects as well as a possible address for them — a cabin about 60 miles south of Seattle, according to the post.

The teen was found safe inside the home. The two suspects and the male suspect's 14-year-old son were also in the cabin, the department said. The Arkansas teen has been reunited with her family, and the son is with a relative, the post states.

The suspects, whose names have not yet been released, are reportedly awaiting extradition to Arkansas and are charged with kidnapping an incompetent person.
