Ann Clements

Where I live: With my husband architect, Gary Clements, in our lovingly restored 1919 American Foursquare in the Argenta Historic District of North Little Rock. Twenty-one years ago we took on the project to rescue this house from condemnation and demolition. At the time we didn't know if we would flip it or make it our home. We've been here ever since.

Occupation: Jewelry artist, owner of Sparklythangs, my handmade upcycled vintage jewelry small business. After retiring from state government after 30 years of service, I am excited to build a small creative business.

My favorite space is: my studio.

Why: This room originally served as the master bedroom in the house, which is surprising because it is so small. After we moved in, it was my youngest son's nursery, then our guest room and now it is my creative space. Surrounded by family treasures, photos, original art and all my vintage jewelry finds, I can create new jewelry from old, design custom pieces for clients from their tucked away family heirlooms and experiment with all sorts of different art mediums. After all those years of working in an office, I have learned to value and enjoy choosing to do whatever I like, whether it's blasting my music or binge watching movies. Our lab mix Hershey likes to keep me company.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: add more storage and a dedicated power tools section.
