The nonprofit organization offers 30-day emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence. In 2017, the 30-year-old shelter in Rogers took in 509 clients -- 276 women and 233 children. Offerings available to residents at the shelter include food, clothing, counseling, court and children's advocacy, community education and support groups.
Tuesday the group announced the appointment of Jolana Aibangbee as its new president. Aibangbee previously served the shelter as vice president of communications and development. According to a press release, she will spend her first year as president focusing "on the organization's programs by investing in staff and facilities."
"The overall goal is no matter how long a client receives services from the NWA Women's Shelter, that we are making a lasting impression on their lives," Aibangbee said.
In the last year, the organization was able to add a full-time licensed counselor to its staff, said Amber Lacewell, incoming vice president of communications and development.
