LITTLE ROCK — A Democrat running for a Republican-held congressional seat in central Arkansas released a new television ad Wednesday highlighting his opposition to his party's leader in the U.S. House, pushing back on GOP attacks he has faced since winning last month's primary.

Clarke Tucker's campaign said it would begin airing the ad on all four broadcast stations in the 2nd Congressional District, which includes Little Rock and seven central Arkansas counties. Republican Rep. French Hill earlier this month began running an ad accusing Tucker of having the backing of House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi's allies in Washington.

Tucker, a state representative, was promoted during the primary campaign by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee as the party's best chance to unseat Hill. Tucker has said he won't support Pelosi as Democratic leader or speaker if he's elected to Congress.

"Congressman Hill opened his campaign by attacking me, knowing full well that I've said from day one that I won't vote for Nancy Pelosi. We're better than that," Tucker says in the ad. "The truth is I'm the only candidate in this race who's worked with both parties to protect health care, strengthen education and empower entrepreneurs."

Hill's campaign, however, continued trying to link the two in response to Tucker's ad.

"Clarke Tucker is the hand-picked candidate of Nancy Pelosi's liberal Washington allies because they know Clarke Tucker supports higher taxes and bigger government and that French Hill will continue to champion lower taxes and a stronger economy," Mike Siegel, a spokesman for Hill's campaign, said in an email.

U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton's political action committee also said Wednesday that it's spending six figures on a campaign backing Hill that includes mailers and online ads linking Tucker to Pelosi. The Republican Majority Fund said the campaign will later include TV ads.

Tucker had run two spots during his primary campaign focused on health care and veterans' issues, but did not mention Hill in either ad. Hill, who did not have an opponent for the Republican nomination, had run another ad ahead of the May 22 primary that didn't mention Tucker but invoked Pelosi.

Democrats have said they believe Hill is vulnerable because of his opposition to the federal health overhaul, which has expanded coverage to thousands in the state. Republicans control all of the state's federal offices and its statewide partisan offices, as well as a majority in both chambers of the Legislature. The GOP has held the 2nd District seat since 2011.

When I see the name "Nancy Pelosi" , I think of Clarke Tucker.

When I see the word "abortion", I think about Clarke Tucker.

Clarke Tucker can "spin" and run, but he can't hide from those two Democrat principles.

How disingenuous -- Nancy Pelosi is one of the most effective Democratic congressperson in modern history. Why Democrats will not stand up for her is beyond reason, and is falling into a gop gotcha trap. If you disavow her, you are NOT a Democrat and I need to look at the other candidates. BTW - if you are a man, you have no say so regarding abortion. You can't have one and you can't have a say so in a woman's healthcare. It's none of your business and mind your own beeswax.

Hey Carpe - " can't have a say so in a woman's healthcare. It's none of your business and mind your own beeswax." Doesn't it take two people to make a baby? What about the "healthcare" of the baby in the womb? Did you support Obamacare? Doesn't Obamacare have a LOT of say about women's healthcare?
Point being, you, Carpe, made an incredibly shallow statement because there's a ton of "beeswax" to consider when it comes to protecting life in the womb.
Tucker can air all the ads he wants running away from SanFranNan, but nobody outside of truly partisan hacks believes him. And as CarpeNoctis noted, it's offending his leftist base. Poor Tucker. SanFranNan is a lose-lose for the guy. And I cannot stop smiling.

Don't fall for this tactic from the right, Tucker. It only goes to show how bankrupt the repugs are in principle. If Lord French had a record to run on, he would be producing it for all to see. Now we have coward Tommy Boy throwing money around for Hill. Birds of a trump feather. LR is right. Vote out the do-nothing incumbents.

CarpFishFace..."You can't have one and you can't have a say so in a woman's healthcare." It is very rarely healthcare for women. If that was the issue the woman's health was considered first before the Roe decision. It is just a flat-out stupid lie to not take responsibility.
"It's none of your business and mind your own beeswax." What are you, 12 years old! Men make up a little under half the population and they have that much say-so. What a childish and immature statement. Never seen you post on here and hope never to again. By the way, the abortion you don't have will require that man to pay out the nose for you to take care of it. When you stop yelling for a man to take care of his responsibilities for his "stupid" mistakes, then you will have a little more right to say a woman should not have to take responsibility for her mistakes.

Why can we not have candidates run that have values and stand up for what is good for us as Arkansans. I do not believe French has a good record to run on, and at the same time Clarke is just flipping and flopping about Nancy and anything else. I am so sick of corrupt politics, I would rather be somewhere where the politicians admit they are corrupt and you pay them their bribe money and they leave you alone. Here they try to hide it and when one is caught, the others act like they had no idea that the corruption was going on.

Nanzi Pelosi Is the House Minority Leader. Next January she will STILL be the House Minority Leader. And when Nanzi Pelosi yells "JUMP" to Clarke Tucker, he'll ask "How high"?
    Hill wins by double digits...

I don’t like that Tucker addressing Pelosi in negative terms. She’s a better leader, it’s just a lot of prejudice and he’s jumping on the bandwagon. Poor choice.
