2 men arrested after fatal shooting in northeast Arkansas, police say

Two men have been arrested after one person was killed in a shooting Wednesday in northeast Arkansas, authorities said.

Deputies responded at 9 p.m. to a reported gunshot on Arkansas 69 between Moorefield and Sulphur Rock, according to a news release from the Independence County sheriff's office.

They found 33-year-old Michael Bryant with a gunshot wound. He was taken to White River Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries, the release states.

Deputies arrested two Batesville men, Alex Brosius, 26, and Jessee Shoemaker, 33, and booked them into the Independence County jail.

The two remained in jail as of 8:30 a.m. Friday, authorities said. The case was said to still be under investigation.
