Police: After report of armed carjacking, Ford Mustang pursued to Little Rock apartment complex

A police officer who was on his way to investigate a report of an armed carjacking in Little Rock tried to pull over a vehicle that matched the description of the stolen one, touching off a pursuit.

The carjacking was reported to have occurred before 8 p.m. Sunday when a robber took a blue Ford Mustang at gunpoint in the area of Mabelvale Pike and Geyer Springs Road.

The officer tried to pull over a similar vehicle traveling east on 65th Street, but the driver "took off driving fast and refusing to stop," according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

The Mustang traveled into an apartment complex off of Butler Road north of 65th Street, where the driver ran off and wasn't located, police said.

Authorities had the car towed from the scene. The report noted that attempts that night to reach the carjacking victim and the car's registered owner were unsuccessful.
