Fewer Arkansas schools received an A rating when the Arkansas Department of Education released school performance data from the 2017-18 school year Friday.
In assessments of more than 1,000 Arkansas schools, 152 received an A. That number is down from the 163 given a year ago, data shows.
Officials issued B's for 313 schools, C's for 380 schools, D's for 145 schools and F's for 44 schools.
The biggest change came in the number of F's given, which increased 33 percent. However, D grades decreased 15 percent, and B grades rose about 8 percent, according to the data.
A school's score is a combination of several components, including standardized test scores, graduation rates and attendance.
Scores from the 2016-17 year were released in April of this year, but education officials decided to shorten the timeline to allow schools to use the data to make changes during the academic year.
