Police: Shootings in Little Rock injure 2, including 16-year-old

Two people, including a 16-year-old boy, were injured in separate shootings in Little Rock on Sunday night, police said.

According to a Little Rock Police Department report, the teenager was shot shortly before 11:30 p.m. while in a vehicle near a dead end in the 5500 block of Baseline Road. The victim told police that he and another teen had been driving in the area when they saw five men outside of their car. One of the men fired into the vehicle before running away with the other four, the victim reportedly told authorities.

Police said the victim, who appeared to have been shot in his left calf, was transported to Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

The report didn't indicate a possible motive for the shooting.

One suspect was listed on the report, though there was no indication an arrest had been made.

About an hour earlier, Anthony Rozier, 25, was shot while driving north on Monroe Street near 22nd Avenue, according to a separate Little Rock Police Department report. Rozier told investigators he heard gunfire and saw two unknown males running from the area.

He then drove home, where his brother’s girlfriend called police.

The Little Rock Fire Department treated Rozier on the scene before he was transported to UAMS Medical Center. Rozier’s injury was considered non-life threatening and he was in stable condition, the report said.

No suspects were named, and no arrests had been made at the time of the report.
