Deputies in central Arkansas fired upon a man who drove toward them Sunday night, authorities said, noting the man suffered minor injuries but was not shot.

Pulaski County sheriff's office deputies were trying to serve four felony warrants just before 10 p.m. Sunday at a residence in the 6600 block of Beverly Street near Jacksonville, according to a news release.

Deputies wrote that they saw a man, later identified as 33-year-old Brandon Caldwell, trying to flee in a vehicle. As they approached on foot, Caldwell tried to run over them, Lt. Cody Burk wrote in the release.

Deputies fired several shots into the vehicle, and Caldwell was arrested when the vehicle came to a stop, the release states.

He was not directly hit by a bullet, but some shrapnel did cause minor injuries, Burk said. He was also bit by a K-9.

Records show Caldwell was booked into the Pulaski County jail on charges of criminal attempt to commit capital murder, aggravated assault and other misdemeanor offenses.
