Helena bank under Arkansas oversight

Helena Bancshares Inc., parent company of Helena National Bank, completed its conversion from a federally regulated bank through the Office of Comptroller of the Currency to a state charter with the Arkansas State Bank Department.

The bank is required to remove the word "National" from its name when it is no longer federally regulated. The bank will use the interim name, "HNB Bank" until it has time to rebrand to a new name.

"We are pleased and excited to now be an Arkansas state bank," stated John Moore, chief executive officer for the bank and the parent company. "We look forward to a strong and supportive working relationship with the state bank department and the [Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.]."

Moore said the organization expects to announce the new name in the near future.

HNB Bank is a 78-year-old full service community bank with six branches in Helena-West Helena, Marion, Marvell and Wynne. As of June 30, HNB Bank had $182.8 million in assets.
