Police: Collision on Arkansas road kills Jeep driver, injures several others

Authorities are investigating a Sunday morning crash that left one person dead and multiple people injured.

The wreck occurred around 12:20 a.m. near the intersection of Highland Drive and Browns Lane in Jonesboro.

Police said a 2008 Pontiac G6 was traveling west on Highland Drive when it turned south onto Browns Lane. The Pontiac then entered the turn lane, where it struck an eastbound 2014 Jeep Wrangler, authorities said.

The driver and a passenger in the Pontiac were both injured and transported to a local hospital, where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to a news release.

Police said the driver of the Jeep was partially ejected and suffered fatal injuries. Three passengers in the Jeep were taken to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The age, gender and names of the people who were involved were not released. Police said the accident is still under investigation.
