Battery charge filed against Arkansas woman accused of burning boy with cigarette

New charges were filed Wednesday against a central Arkansas woman accused of burning a boy with a cigarette this summer, records show.

Jennifer O'Dell, 33, of Conway faces a charge of second-degree battery against a family or household member in a case reported July 19, according to an affidavit filed in Faulkner County Circuit Court.

At the time, the boy's mother told police she noticed the burns while giving her son a bath when he returned home from his grandfather's house.

When the child got out of the bath, he complained that his back hurt and said O'Dell, his grandfather's girlfriend, had "put fire" on him, the affidavit states.

O'Dell did not appear on the Faulkner County jail's online inmate roster as of 6 p.m. Thursday.
