Glade History

The Glade Community Historical Society will host a soup supper beginning at 4 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Lost Bridge Village Community Hall, 12477 Lodge Drive in Garfield. The meal is all-you-can-eat with a variety of homemade soups, breads, drink and dessert for $7 per person. The program for this meeting is a PowerPoint presentation by Ruth Billingsley on the history of the Glade Community.

Travel Club

The Bella Vista Travel Club will be going to the Pacific Northwest and California, featuring Washington, Oregon and California, April 28 through May 5.

The group will be traveling with Collette Tours. Highlights of the trip will include Seattle, Mount St. Helens visitor center, Portland, the Columbia River Gorge, Newport, Bandon State Natural Area, Redwood Nation Park, Eureka and Avenue of the Giants, San Francisco, and a choice of a San Francisco Bay cruise or a city tour of San Francisco.

The special rate for the tour will end Oct. 29.

There has been an interest in going to the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Ky., and the Creation Museum. The club is discussing the possibility of carpooling to make this trip.

Members are invited to share their thoughts and ideas on future travels. This is a group of people that like to travel and have a good time. It is open to everyone that would like to participate.

Car Club

Foothills of the Ozarks Car Club will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 1 at Western Sizzlin' in Springdale. Members should arrive for dinner at 6 p.m.

The club Christmas party will be held at Viney Grove Community Building Dec. 6. Reservations are required, along with a $10 deposit, due by Nov. 23.

Mercedes-Benz

The Mercedes-Benz Club November event will be a breakfast meeting at 9 a.m. Nov. 3 at Mimi's Cafe in Rogers. The purpose of this board meeting is to transition from the existing board to the newly elected board for the 2019-20 term. This will give members the opportunity to meet the new board and become more acquainted with the board activities. At the end of the meeting will be a question-and-answer time including a drawing for a door prize of a $25 gift card to Mimi's Cafe. RSVP by Oct. 29.

The section's members meet each moth for an event. Time and location vary, depending on the nature of the event. Event categories are driving, entertainment, social, education, charitable, technical, exhibit and awards. Owning a Mercedes-Benz is not required to become a member.

Garden Club

The Garden Club of Rogers will meet at 10 a.m. Nov. 6 at First Presbyterian Church, 26th Street and New Hope Road in Rogers.

The program will be titled "What IS IT About Those Orchids?" Speakers will be Steve and Cathy Marak, orchid aficionados. Both have held offices in the Orchid Society of the Ozarks, and Steve is the current president. They are co-chairmen for the annual "Orchids in the Garden" orchid show co-sponsored with the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks the first weekend in March each year. The Maraks have over 700 tropical plants, most of them orchids. There will be a PowerPoint presentation.

The club will hold a pass-along for plants and magazines, and a horticulture report with a drawing for plant of the month. Lunch will be catered, and a reservation is required by Oct. 31.

Myeloma

Hope Cancer Resources offers a new support group for myeloma patients, caregivers and loved ones. The Northwest Arkansas Myeloma Support Group will be co-facilitated by a 22-year survivor and will provide education, support and the opportunity to share personal experiences. The group will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 6 at Hope Cancer Resources, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale.
