Police: Arkansas man struck, killed while trying to move golf cart from I-440 in North Little Rock

A 25-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday night while attempting to move a golf cart that had fallen onto Interstate 440 in North Little Rock, authorities said.

Shortly after 9 p.m., Dennis Mahoney, of Cabot, was attempting to move the golf cart after it fell from a trailer onto Interstate 440 near Faulkner Lake Road, according to a report by state police.

Authorities said Mahoney was fatally struck by a vehicle that was traveling north on the interstate.

The driver, 23-year-old Kaneisha Cochran, of Mississippi, was injured in the collision, authorities said. She was taken to UAMS Medical Center, the report stated, though it did not indicate the extent of her injuries

Authorities described conditions as clear and dry at the time of the crash.

At least 401 people have died on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary information.
