Man arrested after Little Rock bank holdup

One person was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after a Little Rock bank was robbed, police said.

The holdup occurred at the Centennial Bank branch at 718 Broadway, according to a tweet by the city's Police Department. Dispatch records show officers were called shortly before 3:30 p.m. to the bank.

Police spokesman officer Steve Moore said an older white man entered the bank with a note indicating it was a robbery and left with an undisclosed amount of money.

Officers caught the man minutes later near the intersection of Eighth and Gaines streets, Moore said. The robber, whose name was not released, will face charges of aggravated robbery and theft.

The note implied the man might have been carrying a weapon, although no weapon was seen, authorities said. No one was injured.

Police said they believe the robbery could be linked to another heist that occurred Sept. 5 at Bank OZK at 325 W. Capitol Ave.

Authorities said that during that holdup, a white man in his 70s presented a teller with a note that demanded money and threatened to harm the employee.

One of the tellers at Centennial Bank told officers he recognized Thursday's robber from photos posted after Bank OZK was held up last week.
