Little Rock police said they are investigating five separate robberies reported in less than 24 hours in Arkansas' capital city, including two downtown in which victims were injured.
An arrest has been made in only one of the cases, according to police reports.
The first holdup was reported by a 26-year-old man who told officers he was robbed after he was involved in a crash about 7:45 a.m. Monday near the Little Rock Revenue Office at 3 State Police Plaza Drive.
The pair told the Little Rock resident they would pay him in cash for the damage because they didn't have insurance, but the victim declined and said he was calling authorities, according to a report from the city's Police Department.
At that point, the assailants reached into the 26-year-old's pant pockets, took his cellphone and wallet and threatened to kill him if he called police, officers wrote.
Authorities later responded to robberies in downtown Little Rock that left two people injured.
The first occurred at 10:30 p.m. Monday, when officers found a 41-year-old homeless woman lying in an alley between 9th and Scott streets, according to a separate report.
The woman, who had a large cut on her forehead and a swollen cheek, told police an assailant punched her until she lost consciousness. One robber took $7, and another stole $5 before fleeing on foot, the report states.
Police said the victim was taken to CHI St. Vincent, where doctors said she needed stitches and treatment for a possible broken jaw.
About two hours later, a 58-year-old man reported that he had been hit in the head with a brick as he walked in the area of 2nd and Scott streets.
The assault, which happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, stemmed from an argument that started after the victim refused to give the assailant a cigarette, authorities said.
After injuring the man, the robber took his wallet, which contained $40, police wrote.
Authorities were also investigating robberies reported at two businesses Monday.
That morning, Kortvion Hall, 19, used a fire extinguisher to rob an Arvest Bank inside a Walmart Supercenter on South Shackleford Road, police said.
Officers were then called at 10:30 p.m. to Joseph's Discount Store at 1624 S. University Ave., where a 40-year-old employee said a customer robbed him at knifepoint.
The robber tried to pay for several items with a debit or credit card, according to a report. When the card was declined, the would-be customer pulled out a knife and then fled with about $35 worth of merchandise, including food, candy and a pornographic DVD, authorities wrote.
