Police: Arkansas man faces assault charge after driving toward officer's vehicle on I-530

A Grady man was arrested Thursday after trying to run a police officer off the road in North Little Rock, according to an arrest report.

A North Little Rock officer was driving down Interstate 530 when he noticed a white SUV driving up next to him and made eye contact with the driver, the report said.

The driver, Gary Lee Hoag, 71, made eye contact with the officer and began to drive over into the lane by the police car, causing the officer to move over the yellow line and onto the rumble strips, according to the report.

After getting out of the way of the SUV, the officer pulled over and arrested Hoag on charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and fleeing.

Hoag was not listed on the Pulaski County jail roster by Friday evening.
