'Alive' in El Dorado
Dove Award-winning Christian music group Big Daddy Weave — on its Alive World Tour with string players Becca Bradley and Jonathan Chu — performs at 6 p.m. today at El Dorado Municipal Auditorium, 100 W. Jazz in the Park
Genine LaTrice Perez performs for Jazz in the Park, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the History Pavilion in Riverfront Park, just west of the First Security Amphitheater — closest entry point is on Ottenheimer Drive off President Clinton Avenue, Little Rock. (In case of rain, the performance moves to the River Market West Pavilion.)
Admission is free. There is some seating in the History Pavilion's natural stone amphitheater, but lawn chairs and blankets are welcome; coolers are not. Beer, wine, soft drinks and water will be sold. Sponsor is the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau in partnership with Art Porter Music Education Inc., which will receive a portion of beverage and koozie sales. Covering the Straits
Singer-songwriter-guitarist John Burnette will cover Dire Straits' classic 1985 album Brothers in Arms, 8 p.m. Wednesday at South on Main, 1304 Main St., Little Rock. Burnette's show was scheduled by South on Main co-owner Amy Bell, who has chosen favorite area musicians — Burnette is an Arkansas native living and working in Nashville, Tenn. — to cover her favorite artists in honor of her April birthday.
The album won two Grammy Awards and was the first to sell a million copies in the CD format. The best-known songs: "So Far Away," "Walk of Life" and "Money for Nothing," which became one of the most-played songs on MTV.
