WILD ART

Animals' artistic endeavors auctioned for worthy cause

Those with a love of animals and maybe wanting a little something different for their Christmas tree were able to help animals and find unique ornaments at Great Escapes on Dec. 13 at Boswell Mourot Fine Art Gallery in the Heights.

The fundraiser for the Little Rock Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers featured ornaments and artwork painted by a variety of animals from the Little Rock Zoo -- including elephants, rhinos, great apes and penguins.

Ornaments and postcards were for sale, while the paintings by the animals were available to the highest bidder through a silent auction. Guests enjoyed drinks and finger foods while perusing the wild art.

Money raised at the event supports conservation projects, zoo keeper education and preservation of natural resources.
