2nd-half run lifts Conway

CONWAY -- Myia Yelder scored 23 points to lead Conway past North Little Rock 68-62 on Tuesday night at Buzz Bolding Arena.

Also for Conway, senior guard Asiyha Smith had 22 points, and junior guard Jadah Pickens scored 14.

Conway (15-2, 2-0 6A-Central) trailed 29-28 at halftime, but went on an 8-0 run to take a 44-37 lead midway through the third quarter. Senior guard Reagan Roetzel's three-pointer started the run, which put Conway ahead 39-37. Smith's three-pointer made it 44-37.

The Lady Wampus Cats led 49-44 at the end of the third quarter. North Little Rock pulled to within 51-49 on senior guard Kennady Tucker's basket, but Conway came back with consecutive field goals by Smith and Yelder for a 55-49 advantage.

The Lady Charging Wildcats again pulled within two points, 55-53, but Smith converted a three-point play with 4:53 remaining to extend the Lady Wampus Cats' lead to 58-53. Yelder followed with a three-pointer for a 61-53 advantage.

In the final four minutes, Conway sealed the victory by making 7 of 10 free throws.

Freshman forward Amauri Williams led North Little Rock (7-7, 1-1) with 18 points and eight rebounds. Tucker scored 16 points, senior De'Myla Brown had 11 and sophomore guard Arin Freeman added 10 for the Lady Charging Wildcats.
