Foundation chief plans to step down

BENTONVILLE -- Kyle Peterson will step down as the Walton Family Foundation's executive director this summer, the foundation announced Wednesday.

Peterson will remain with the foundation for the next six months to help with the transition, according to an email signed by Carrie Walton Penner, chairman of the foundation's board of directors and granddaughter of the late Walmart founders, Sam and Helen Walton.

The foundation grew its staff by 50 percent and managed nearly $600 million in annual giving while Peterson led the philanthropic organization, according to Penner.

Peterson joined the foundation in September 2016 as its third executive director.

Before joining the foundation, Peterson was a managing partner and board member of Boston-based FSG, formerly Foundation Strategy Group, a nonprofit consulting firm founded in 2000 with a focus on large-scale, long-lasting social change.
