Bladesmith a 'treasure' as council so names him

Master bladesmith Jerry Fisk of Nashville was named an Honorary Arkansas Living Treasure by the Arkansas Arts Council on May 23 at the Historic Arkansas Museum.

The nationally known knife maker proposed the idea of recognizing traditional Arkansas artists to the Department of Arkansas Heritage after being named a National Living Treasure. The Arkansas Living Treasure Award began in 2002.

A reception preceded the award program which included a premiere of the film Jerry Fisk: Bladesmith and remarks by Brazilian bladesmith Ricardo Villar.

Attendees included six Living Treasure recipients, members of the Fisk family, knife makers and fans of the craft.
