LR center to open for breast cancer

Statewide cancer care network CARTI has announced a new breast care center set to open in Little Rock in June.

The facility will offer a range of services including mammograms, genetic testing, biopsies, treatment of benign breast disease and detection and treatment of breast cancer.

Dr. Stacy Smith-Foley will lead the center.

"This expands our impact from only treating cancer patients to also seeing patients who have not and may not ever have a cancer diagnosis," network President and CEO Adam Head said in a statement.

"This is a demonstration of our steadfast commitment to providing the highest level of care for our neighbors across the state and greater region."

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer for Arkansas women.

American Cancer Society estimates suggest the disease will kill more than 400 in the state this year.
