FULL BOWLS, AND PLATES, AND GLASSES

Empty Bowls fundraiser fills food bank's coffers

Guests lined up May 10 for a taste from some of Little Rock's finest restaurants at Empty Bowls, benefiting the Arkansas Foodbank.

Participants included the Arkansas Heart Hospital cafeteria, Cantina Laredo, Cathead's Diner, Honey Pies, Nothing Bundt Cakes, South on Main, Table 28 and Trio's.

Sisters Katie Waldrip Branscum, Lauren Waldrip Ward and Allison Waldrip Bragg chaired the event held at the Robinson Center Ballroom. Ben Noble, vice president of marketing and strategy at Riceland Foods, was the honoree.

The evening included a live auction. A one-week stay for up to 10 people in Costa Rica sold for $7,000. A Disney World vacation that included 10 day passes and round-trip airfare for two went for $1,900.

In 2018, Arkansas Foodbank distributed 27 million pounds of food; enough for 61,500 meals a day.
