Half-Price Plant Sale

FAIRFIELD BAY — As a result of their nearly rained-out sale earlier this month, the Van Buren County Master Gardeners will have a half-price plant sale at noon Memorial Day, following the Memorial Day Ceremony in Fairfield Bay. The sale will offer will a large variety of plants. All are invited to come out to honor veterans, feast on a Kirk Men’s hot dog, then shop the sale in Ed Leamon Park. Each veteran will receive a free plant.

CABOT — Criswell-Robinson American Legion Post 71 will have a Memorial Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Community Center, 508 N. Lincoln St. The keynote speaker will be Allen Miller. All are invited to attend and pay tribute to those who died while serving in the United States military.

FAIRFIELD BAY — A Memorial Day observance will take place at 11 a.m. in front of the Fairfield Bay Senior Center, 385 Dave Creek Parkway. Mayor Paul Wellenberger will welcome veterans and guests, and the Van Buren County Community Band will perform patriotic music.

Blue Hats & Bunco

BEEBE — Blue Hats & Bunco-Ladies Night Out, a fundraising event for scholarships for the Arkansas State University-Beebe Heber Springs campus, will take place at the Quality Inn in Heber Springs. Bunco will kick off at approximately 7 p.m., with heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages served beginning at 6. Registration costs $50 and includes bunco, food, prizes and more. Alice in Wonderland

BATESVILLE — The North Arkansas Dance Theatre will present Alice in Wonderland at 6 p.m. both days in the Southside High School Auditorium, 70 Scott Drive. Southern Food Festival

BATESVILLE — The 2019 Peco Southern Food Festival will take place on Main Street. Punch Cards, good for one lemonade and five food samples, will be available for $10. The event will feature vendors, live music, kids’ activities, street performers and Gallery 246 artist demonstrations. The farmers market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon in the Pocket Park, and vendors will open at 10 a.m.

Ash Flat Senior Center Activities

ASH FLAT — The Ash Flat Senior Life Center invites residents of Ash Flat and surrounding areas to the following weekly events: Bingo from 9-10:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Friday; card games, board games and painting from 9-10:30 a.m. Thursdays; and exercise classes from 10-10:30 a.m. Thursdays. The Heritage Center’s Summer at Indian Hills

Main Street Searcy Farmers’ Market

Independence County Library Summer Reading Program

BATESVILLE — Children up to age 12 will explore “all things space” this summer as the Independence County Library presents its Summer Reading Program, “A Universe of Stories.” Activities will include stories, crafts, singing and more. Children may register anytime during June at the library. The kickoff event will feature magician Aaron Acosta, who will perform at the library at 10:30 a.m. June 5. Story times, which begin June 12, will be at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. every Wednesday, and at 4 p.m. every Thursday. Aviation Summer Camp

MELBOURNE — Ozarka College in Melbourne will host its first two-day Aviation Summer Camp, for grades eight through 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 6 and 7 at the Melbourne Municipal Airport, 524A Airport Road. Chairman’s Memorial Golf Tournament
