The Rocketeer - Comic-based series premieres on Disney

Disney Junior's new series The Rocketeer is an animated adventure series inspired by Dave Stevens' superhero comic books. The show focuses on a young girl, Kit Secord (Kitana Turnbull, A Series of Unfortunate Events), who takes to the skies to protect her community after becoming the recipient of a rocket pack that gives her the ability to fly. It premieres at 10 a.m. Friday on Disney Channel and 4 p.m. Friday on Disney Junior.

The Rocketeer is set in the small town of Hughesville. Each episode contains two 11-minute stories that follow Kit as she embarks on high-flying adventures, which is usually brought on by the comedic villains featured through the series. Kit has a team to help her pull off her heroics and keep her identity hidden from the people in town. Her best friend Tesh (Callan Farris, Gabby Duran & the Unsittables) serves as ground control when Kit takes to the skies. She's also the inventor of high-tech gadgets and upgrades to the rocket pack. Kit's grandfather, Ambrose Secord (Frank Welker, Scooby Doo) works at the Hughesville Airport. He serves as her mechanic. And also along for the ride is Butch the bulldog.

The series also stars Billy Campbell (The Rocketeer film) and Kathy Najimy as Kit's parents, Dave and Sareena Secord. Additional character voices and guest stars include Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show), Marlo Thomas (That Girl), Annie Potts (Young Sheldon), D'Arcy Carden (The Good Place), comedian Maria Bamford, Kari Wahlgren (DC Superhero Girls) and celebrity chef and TV host Ted Allen (Chopped).
