Flu shots, screenings offered at Union County Health Fair

EL DORADO -- Union County residents will be able to receive free health screenings at the Interfaith Health Clinic Health Fair on Oct. 16.

The health fair will feature professionals from several health care fields, including mental health, women's services and oral hygiene, said Jill Temple, executive director of Interfaith Health Clinic.

The fair will also give out 75 free flu shots to those who are uninsured upon proof of income.

Those with insurance can also receive a flu shot, but should bring their insurance card.

Since the health fair is geared more toward those in the 18to 64-year-old range, there will also be child care services so parents can participate in screenings, Temple said.

A kids' corner will have coloring, temporary tattoos and someone to watch over the kids.

Temple said there will also be a Spanish translator present for those who require the service.

Door prizes will be available as well as a chance to win a pair of $200 wireless Beats headphones.

The health fair will be from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 16 at the clinic, 403 W. Oak St., 2nd floor, in El Dorado.

The Interfaith Health Clinic is a non-profit service of the SHARE Foundation.
