Jesse Cotton Stone will perform at 8:30 p.m. today at White Water Tavern in Little Rock. Admission is $10.

According to his biography at jessecottonstone.com, Stone started playing guitar by ear at age 11, while he and his family traveled and worked on the carnival circuit — his grandfather was a balloon clown.

He calls himself a "Colorado-born, American highway raised, bluesman" and third-generation "carny." It was the music of Jimi Hendrix that Stone says eventually led him to play the blues. After hearing Hendrix play, the young Stone sold his Matchbox car collection so he could buy an electric guitar. He formed the Jesse Cotton Stone Band at 14, but he had already played all over Missouri and at the Chicago House of Blues.

Stone is working on two albums to release in the coming months.
