HOT SPRINGS -- It was a full house at Central Theater on Aug. 30 for the world premiere of films made during Low Key Arts 2019 Inception to Projection filmmaking program.
The lineup of short films was introduced by Jen Gerber, executive director of the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival. She said the students had an intense six weeks where they learned everything about filmmaking from screenwriting to shot composition, lighting techniques and camera techniques. "They shot these movies in about four hours each -- and when you see how much they accomplished in that time it is truly, truly impressive."
Filmmakers were Amy and Tony Hale, Patty Meeks, Gabe Henk, Kristine Artymowski, Mason Tabor, Ferrin Lunestad, Sydney Botter, Stephen A. Spanel, Brody Toennis, Wayne Ball and Julie Williams. The evening ended with a chance for audience members to ask the students questions about their films and filmmaking experiences during the class.
This is the eighth year for the class for aspiring filmmakers that culminates in a film screening. The classes -- for all ages and skill levels -- are taught by professional filmmakers. The event was sponsored by Superior Bathhouse Brewery.
