COOKING WITH GAS

Chef-d'oeuvre

State’s top chefs honored by colleagues at elegant soiree

Top Arkansas chefs were honored by their own Sept. 9 at the annual Chef Ball held at the University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute.

Todd Gold, president of the Culinary Federation Central Arkansas Cooks Association, which hosted the gala, welcomed guests and served as master of ceremonies.

Guests dined at elaborately decorated tables centered with fall arrangements of fresh fruit, autumn leaves and flowers, moss-covered topiaries and candles in mercury glass holders. Each of the 10 courses was prepared by a different chef and artfully presented with wine pairings.

Inducted into the Chef Hall of Fame were Mary Beth Ringgold and Andre Poirot. Dejeune Kinchen was named pastry chef of the year. Chef of the year was Jordan Davis and chef educator of the year was Kevin Gee. Student chef of the year and student pastry chef of the year were Regina Cornish and Hope Baugh, respectively.
