UCA coding unit

gets new director

The Arkansas Coding Academy at the University of Central Arkansas has a new director.

Alison Wish, a more-than-20-year veteran of information technology, started Dec. 1, the university announced.

Wish replaces Donald Walker, who spent a year and a half in the position.

She is a graduate of Arkansas Tech University, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in computer and information science. Upon graduation, Wish took a job at Acxiom LLC.

Before heading up the Arkansas Coding Academy, Wish was Acxiom's senior manager of delivery and oversaw 30 technical data architects around the world, according to UCA's announcement.

At the academy, Wish plans to continue to train people to meet the growing workforce need for workers with coding skills, she said in the announcement.

The academy started in 2016 to increase the number of people in Arkansas who can work in programming, information technology or software development. It's housed at UCA's Division of Outreach and Community Engagement. Classes are open to the community.
