Fort Smith seeks input on use of federal funds

FORT SMITH -- The city of Fort Smith is encouraging anyone who has a stake in the community to complete a survey to determine needs for an allocation of $530,840 in federal Community Development Block Grant coronavirus response funds.

The feedback from the survey will help the city understand the problems, identify solutions and prioritize funding, a city news release states. The city is especially calling on the organizations that serve low- to moderate-income residents to complete the survey based on calls for assistance.

The survey will close on Sunday, the release states.

It can be found at https://bit.ly/2yQn4Na, or at the bottom of the homepage on the city's website, www.fortsmithar.gov.

"For nonprofits serving low income citizens it cannot be stressed enough that each organization ask the person applying or requesting assistance to complete the survey online," the release states.

Those who have disabilities or language barriers, or who do not have access to the internet, are asked to call (479) 784-2209. The questions will be read and answers placed into the survey for them.

The Community Development Block Grant program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development helps fund local community development.
