Maintenance by the Tennessee Department of Transportation on the Interstate 55 bridge over the Mississippi River at West Memphis will require closing the bridge and a detour today, according to the Arkansas Department of Transportation.
Crews will close all lanes of the 4-mile stretch of I-55 between the I-40/I-55 interchange and the Mississippi River from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., weather permitting.
Traffic will be detoured to I-40 eastbound, the department said. The entrance ramps for I-55 at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, East Broadway Avenue and Bridgeport Road also will be closed for the duration of the work.
Traffic will be controlled by barrels, barricades and signs, the department said.
