Fakult inks with Arkansas Tech
College coaches weren’t allowed to do any in-person recruiting lately because of covid-19, so the previous relationships Andrew Fakult built over the years paid off with a chance to play college golf at Arkansas Tech.
Fakult, a four-time all-conference selection for Rogers, found a great connection and made it official on Friday by signing a letter of intent in a ceremony in the commons area at Rogers High.
“It was a lot of building connections instead of playing golf for college coaches because they weren’t allowed to come and watch,” Fakult said. “Previous connects really helped out a lot and ultimately that’s how I got Arkansas Tech because they started talking to me early in my sophomore year.
“He knows me as a person. I know the team. I know the coach and that’s ultimately what prevailed. That’s where I belong.”
The senior finished in a tie for third this year in the Class 6A state golf tournament and lost in a playoff for the final spot in the Overall tournament.
