3 people die in Arkansas road crashes

A Russellville man died Nov. 24 when the vehicle he was driving ran off Interstate 40 and crashed near London in Pope County, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary report.

Stephen R. Sadler, 63, was headed east about 4:37 p.m. when the 2013 Hyundai Elantra he was driving left the roadway on the south side of Interstate 40.

The vehicle traveled through a ditch line and turned sideways before overturning twice. Sadler was ejected from the vehicle, which came to a stop on its top in the ditch line.

The preliminary report noted it was raining and the road was wet at the time of the crash.

Two women died Nov. 20 when the 2019 Land Rover they were in struck the side of a 2016 Mack truck on Arkansas 367 near Possum Grape in Stone County, according to a state police preliminary report.

Driver Ashley Steele, 20, of Bradford and Leslie Lewis, 28, of Newport were headed south about 7:44 p.m. when the Land Rover struck the Mack truck as the truck backed across the highway to park in a private driveway.

No other injuries were reported.

The weather was clear and the road was dry, the report said.
