UCA men, ASU women win

The University of Central Arkansas men and Arkansas State University women won the UCA Cross Country Challenge on Saturday at Beaverfork Lake Park in Conway.

The UCA men won with 27 points while Arkansas State was second with 42 points, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock was third with 63 points and Philander Smith was fourth with 105 points.

Individually, Bennett Pascoe of Arkansas State won with a time of 15 minutes, 15.3 seconds on the 5,000-meter course. Alex Hanson and Maximillian Nores of Central Arkansas finished second (15:30.5) and third (15:33.3). UALR's top runner was Spenser Cardinal, who finished eighth (16:04.8). Miles Flood was Philander Smith's top runner with a 34th-place finish in 22:02.0.

In the women's meet, Arkansas State won with 19 points, Central Arkansas was second with 37 points, UALR was third with 80 points and Philander Smith was fourth with 120 points.

Pauline Meyer of Arkansas State won the individual title in 18:20.3 on the 5,000-meter course, while her teammate Sophie Leathers was third in 18:41.4. Casey Gore of Central Arkansas was fifth in 19:03.1. Mia Patria of UALR was 12th in 19:43.1. Ishmia Black of Philander Smith finished 35th in 24:06.7.
