The Bella Vista Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1 St. Bernard Lane in Bella Vista. Daniel Barrett will present the program on "The Life Of the Common Civil War Soldiers."
Seating will be spaced according to covid-19 protocols, and masks will be required.

Writers Guild
The Siloam Springs Writers Guild is canceling the scheduled Jan. 11 meeting. The next meeting will be Feb. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 2000 Dawn Hill.
Author Gene Linzey will speak on "The Easiest Way to Write a Story." February prose and poetry assignments are on the topic, "What does it mean to be a chicken?"

Legion Post 29
American Legion Post 29 will have bingo at the Community Building on Monday evenings. Doors open at 5 p.m., and Early Bird games start at 5:30 p.m., followed by regular games. Everyone 18 and older is invited to join in the fun. Concession items will be for sale.
Tailwaggers
Tailwaggers is seeking volunteers to walk dogs and socialize cats at the Siloam Springs City Animal Shelter.
They are also in need of donations of chewies, rawhides, cat toys and dog harnesses for the animal shelter. Donations can be dropped off at the animal shelter located at 1300 E. Ashley St.

Literacy Council
It is rewarding to be able to assist those trying to improve their literacy skills in order to help their families. The Dogwood Literacy Council in Siloam Springs is in need of more volunteers who would like to become tutors. Training and materials will be provided.

SSRH Auxiliary
Siloam Springs Regional Hospital Auxiliary is looking for willing volunteers for the information desk, obstetrics department, radiology department, surgery department and materials management. The Auxiliary offers an opportunity to help the community while working three or four hours a week.

Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels volunteers are needed to ride along in a food truck to assist in delivering meals to shut-ins in Gentry. Any day but Tuesday is needed from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Naturalists
The Northwest Arkansas chapter of Arkansas Master Naturalists is accepting applications for upcoming training which will start in late January. Training for 2021 will occur via Zoom, with approximately 50 hours of virtual lectures and interpreted hike videos. Trainees have a choice of attending either Saturday morning or Wednesday evening classes, each lasting three to four hours. Some small group socially distanced field time is also planned.

Radio Club
The Bella Vista Area Radio Club is conducting virtual meetings on the first Thursday of each month via YouTube Live. In-person monthly license testing has resumed on the second Saturday of the month. All amateur radio enthusiasts and prospective hams are invited.

Computer Club
The Bella Vista Computer Club (BVCC) will continue to meet over the internet using Zoom and does not conduct in-person meetings or classes.
Visitors and guests are welcome. The Zoom meeting connection information will be emailed to all members in advance of the meeting and will also be available on the club's website at bvcomputerclub.org the weekend before the meeting.
The yearly BVCC membership is $25 for the first member in a household and $10 for each additional member in the same household. It is now possible to join or renew membership online on the BVCC website at bvcomputerclub.org. The benefits of club membership include remote help for members with their computerized devices and free classes on a variety of computer topics.
The website details the most current issue of the "Bits & Bytes" newsletter, minutes of the previous month's general meeting, membership forms, detailed directions to meeting rooms, and updates to scheduled classes.
