Ralph Manning, age 88, of Crossett, Ark. passed away on July 31, 2010 at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on May 18, 1922 in Strong, Ark. to his parents, Jesse Elmer and Sallie Pauline Mitcham Manning. Mr. Manning retired from Georgia Pacific after 41 years of employment. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting. Mr. Manning was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie Elizabeth Defee Manning and a son, Richard Manning. Survivors include: one son, J. C. Manning and wife, Genia Kay of Hamburg, Ark.; one brother, Donald W. Manning of Marion, La.; three sisters, Faye Jackson, Shirley Hale, both of Marion, La., Dianne Schultz of Alvin, Texas; three grandchildren, Jason Manning of Crossett, Ark., Paul Manning of Hamburg, Ark., Terry Barnes and husband, James of Little Rock, Ark. and four great-grandchildren, Mason Manning, Kate Barnes, Cameron Barnes and Claire Barnes. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010 at Union Cemetery near Sadie, La. with Mickey Lane Manning officiating under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, Ark. (www.jonesservice.com) Visitation will be held from 5–7 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
