Michael Glen Gauldin

Michael Glen Gauldin, 55, press secretary for Governor Bill Clinton from 1987-1992, died July 22 at his home in Burke, Virginia. Mr. Gauldin was born November 13, 1954 in Mena and graduated from Foreman High School in 1973. He served in the U.S. Army from 1974-77 and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1981. He worked for several Arkansas newspapers then served as Assistant Director of Information and journalism instructor at the University of Arkansas from 1984-87. He served as Director of Communications for the U.S. Departments of Energy then Interior from 1993-2000, Chief of Communications for the U.S. Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement from 2001-07, then became Public Affairs Officer for the U.S. Geological Survey. A memorial service will be at Foreman First Baptist Church, 2 p.m. Saturday, August 7. Mr. Gauldin is survived by his wife, four children, his parents, three brothers, and two grandchildren.
