Anemone "Ann" Smedley

On August 4, 2010, Anemone "Ann" Smedley, age 90, of Pine Bluff, closed her eyes and joined her Lord and Savior in her heavenly home. Mrs. Smedley resided at Robinson Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in North Little Rock for several months where she touched the lives of many with her captivating smile. She was born July 21, 1920, in Fornfelt, Missouri, to Ezekiel and Evalyn Reeder Reid. As a child, her family moved to Pine Bluff. She was a 1939 graduate of Pine Bluff High School. Mrs. Smedley was a charter member of Belair Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School, served as elder and Women of the Church member. When Belair Presbyterian Church closed, she joined Central Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Arkansas Business Women's Association and Woodmen of the World. Mrs. Smedley retired from the banking industry in 1975 after 21 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Edward Wallace and sisters O'Bera Covington and Virginia Stewart. She is survived by loving husband, James Smedley, son, Dewey Wallace (Nancy) of Sevierville, Tenn., daughter, Diane Simmons (Dean), Sherwood, stepdaughters, Myra Rinehart (Kent), Rison and Lu Ann Colling (Bob), Russellville, brother-in-law, Robert E. Wallace (Joan), Holly Springs, N.C., nephew, Raymond Covington (Betty Sue), Gadsden, Ala., nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 7, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Dr. Dan Festa officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson's Saturday morning 9:30 to service time.
