Loving family and friends were gathered at the bedside of Frieda Crowder to celebrate her life this past week. Mrs. Crowder gently passed away at approximately 9 P.M. Tuesday, August 10, 2010. She was preceded in death in 1989, by her husband, James. Frieda Thomas was raised in Pine Bluff and married James Crowder in 1941, in Stuttgart. She traveled extensively across the United States and around the world during her lifetime with James. She was once profiled by a local newspaper for having the courage and skill to pack and move a household that included six young children when her husband was already in theater in Japan. She leaves six children, Linda Heth, Patricia Lewis, James Crowder Jr., Wesley Crowder, Ginger Crew and Sharon Strietmatter. She had 19 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. It was an honor to be with Mother at the time of her death and she will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 14, 2010, at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Ray Edmonson officiating. Burial will be in Cypress Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may take the form of contributions to Hospice Angels, 3801 Camden Road, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.
